Sequential Prophet 6

The Sequential Prophet-6 is an analog synthesizer available in both keyboard and rack-mounted versions, released in 2015. It features a weight of 12.6 kg and dimensions of 813 x 323 x 117 mm. The synthesizer operates with a maximum power consumption of 30 watts and includes various connectors such as left/mono and right audio outputs, a headphone output, MIDI in, out, and thru ports, and USB for bidirectional MIDI communication. This synthesizer is equipped with two newly designed, discrete voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs) per voice, allowing for a range of wave shapes and modulation options. It features a four-pole resonant low-pass filter inspired by the original Prophet-5, as well as a high-pass filter, ADSR envelope generators, and a polyphonic step sequencer with up to 64 steps. The Prophet-6 also includes built-in stereo analog distortion and digital effects such as reverb and delay, enhancing its versatility for various musical styles. With 500 user and 500 factory programs stored in 10 banks, the Prophet-6 provides ample memory for sound design. It is designed for both studio and live performance applications, making it suitable for a wide range of genres.

Soundtracs Solo

SoundTracs Solo is an analog mixing console listed in the analog consoles category. The standard Solo is described as a solid, vintage-style analog desk with warm sound characteristics, with user notes highlighting strong preamps and a satisfying tactile EQ experience. Notable features referenced include solid build with a flight case, and warm, resonant analog tone. Reviews praise the preamps as good and emphasize the tactile feel of the EQ controls, contrasting with modern consoles. Typical use cases mentioned by users include live performance and studio work, leveraging the console’s vintage sound and robust construction. The Solo is presented as suitable for enthusiasts of vintage analog gear seeking a warm, chunky analog character in a console that still delivers in both live and studio contexts.

Vermona ’14 Analogsynthesizer

The ’14 Analogsynthesizer is a monophonic analog synthesizer from Vermona, categorized under elektroakustische manufaktur, synthesizer. It is handmade in Germany and is limited to 222 units. Its voice architecture centers on two analog oscillators, a lowpass filter, and a VCA, with two envelope generators, an LFO, and a vibrato generator. The instrument offers extensive sound shaping via a dedicated control surface with keyboard, pitch and modulation wheels, and individual controls for main outputs and headphone output. Key features include VCOs with multiple octaves and tunings, pulse-width modulation, a sub-oscillator, various modulation destinations (including VCF modulation), and an arpeggiator with multiple modes and up to 60 notes. The build emphasizes warm, musical analog character and hands-on control for dynamic lead and bass sounds. Connectivity supports flexible integration: unbalanced 1/4" line outputs, transformer-balanced XLR outputs, 1/8" and 1/4" audio inputs, and CV/Gate and MIDI I/O (IN, OUT, THRU). A sustain pedal input and a volume pedal with a trim-pot for minimum volume are included, enabling expressive performance setups. The unit weighs 6.5 kg and measures 770 x 310 x 150 mm.

Vermona PERfourMER MKII

The Vermona PERfourMER MKII is a quad analog synthesizer in a rack format. It comprises four independent monophonic synth channels that can be linked or played together in various configurations, effectively yielding four voices or an ensemble of individual instruments. Each channel is built around a classic VCO/VCF/VCA signal path, starting from an analog oscillator with multiple waveforms and a noise source, through a 24 dB/Oct low-pass filter with adjustable resonance, and into a discrete VCA. Modulation options include a flexible LFO and an ADSR envelope generator for VCO, VCF, and VCA, with support for hard-sync and FM interactions between channels. The design supports diverse play modes (monophonic, duophonic, polyphonic) and synchronization between channels, enabling complex textures and layered sounds. Typical use cases include live performance and studio sound design, where a single PERfourMER MKII can function as four separate instruments or as a cohesive four-voice synth. The device offers MIDI control and optional CV/Gate inputs, with individual channel controls for each function, facilitating real-time manipulation and hands-on exploration of subtractive synthesis and evolving textures.

Yamaha CS-80

The Yamaha CS-80 is an analog polyphonic keyboard in the category of claviers synthétiseurs analogiques. It is described as a heavy, high-quality weighted keyboard with aftertouch and velocity sensitivity, and it offers portamento and glissando as performance features. Key characteristics highlighted in user reports include eight-voice polyphony and bi-timbral operation, with a dual serial filter section (high-pass and low-pass) and a dedicated envelope with five parameters. The sound is noted for its expressiveness and distinctive character, aided by modulation options such as a sub-oscillator that can be controlled via aftertouch or directly, and a chorus or ring-modulator effect. Typical use cases presented emphasize real-time, expressive playability and dynamic control, useful for complex, brass-like or vivid synthetic timbres. However, the machine is described as demanding to operate, with a substantial physical footprint and a reputation for maintenance challenges due to its analog, non-digital internals. Presets and editable factory tones are mentioned, alongside the model’s status as a rare, highly sought instrument.
